Washington State Library's collection of the World Fair Commission's records and correspondence, 1957-1963.

This collection consists of records for the World Fair Commission for the Seattle World's Fair that was held in 1962. The collection includes correspondence, minutes, the Commission's organization, reports and committee assignments. There are some photographs in the collection. One photograph is a color photograph of the Space Needle in Seattle, WA during construction of the Needle. In the forefront of the photograph is the picture of a construction worker. The photograph is mounted with an overall dimension of 18 in. (45 cm.) x 14 in. (35 cm.) The photograph is 13.5 in. (34 cm.) x 10.5 in. (27 cm.). It is not apparent who took the photograph. There is a sound recording titled, "The World of Century Twenty First" music by Alexander Laszlo; words by Wesley La Violette; narrated by Vincent Price. It is a musical panorama for symphony orchestra that was a Seattle World's Fair Recording in 1962.

Maud P. Mitchell was born about 1883 in Oregon. She married Chas. R. Mitchell and by 1920 they were living in Chehalis, WA. Charles was an assistant cashier at the bank.
